Workin' 9-5....

What a crazy week. Apparently I picked the wrong profession and health care system to work in if I thought I would get to stay home because of the weather. I tell you, we are like the post master. No matter what the weather, we will be here ready to greet you...with a smile....dang it!

So it is now Christmas Eve. My house is a mess, the kids will be coming to stay over, I still have one gift left to buys (that is not because of my poor planning, I was at the mercy of someonebody else who had poor planning...). The presents are wrapped, the shopping for food done. All is not lost I guess.

I had to stop and put all into perspective last night when I was EXHAUSTED from the 2nd day of a 12 hour shift. I starting thinking how grateful I am to have a job to complain about working so long. I was thankful that I was able to give my family gifts and pay cash for them. I was thankful that we will have my children and granddaughter with us for the holiday. That we are all healthy and well and blessed. There will be so many people this holiday season who are estranged from their families, in transition because of death or divorce. I pray that those people will find peace and that those of us who have many blessings will remember those who don't and count our blessings.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow....

Me thinks me will get my wish! The snow is here to stay for a bit! Meteorologists, bless their heart, can't call it. Each time we think it might be warming up, it changes and gets colder and more snow or freezing rain falls. LOL. Sometimes we all need a reminder that humans are not running ANYTHING. God is in control (whether anyone believes it or not).

Okay, so we ventured out today (The Mister dug us out, seriously, the doors were frozen shut...pretty scary). OK, it's cold, windy and and even when I broke the 1/4 inch of ice, I STILL could not reach the ground?? What the....This is Portland? So I got some nice photos and well, we will see what tomorrow will bring!

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas....

Cosmic Conspiracy. That's how it feels sometimes. I finally got the tree completely decorated. It took 2 weeks. Really. I don't know why. I would come home and walk right past the box of ornaments. Finally, on Friday I walked in the door and just started hanging them. I still had my coat on....I wanted to put up a picture but I can't find the camera!!!!

So right now the city is under a blanket of snow that is now as I type being covered by freezing rain. I have one gift to get. Just one! I don't know what the rest of the week will bring. Supposedly, rumor has it that there may be another storm coming through on Christmas Eve. So not cool. The one year I have all but one gift, I have brunch planned and even have already done all the shopping for the ingredients and such. Now look. Snow, wind, ice. Go figure.

Fiiiire!

It has been a wild few days. A few days ago while cooking, I had an incident involving a burning skillet and a fire extinguisher. Scary stuff. Kamiyah was at the house and it was just so scary that my house came close to being destroyed. Had I not had a a fire extinguisher, I don't know.....

Anyway, even though the fire was pretty intense, it left no damage (except the skillet-which I now need to replace!) Let me tell you though, cleaning up fire extinguisher residue is NO FUN! Imagine a 25lb bag of flour scattered ALL over your kitchen. Yeah. That. CRAZY! I spent 4 hours scrubbing and sweeping and wiping.... But guess what? My kitchen is spotless, We are all safe and we have a house that is not damaged. Thank God for that

Deck the Halls....

Slacker. It is December 3rd and I don't have one Christmas decoration out. As a matter of fact the things I bought on Black Friday from Joann? They are still in the trunk...(Though I don't think that I bought any thing to decorate with, but I don't remember) I always have the house completely decked out by the day after Thanksgiving. As a matter of fact, on Thanksgiving night I am usually in the basement rustling around pulling stuff out staying up until all hours making things just so.

So, and I think this is terrible but oh well, I am thinking to myself 'when is it too late to put up decorations, and can I get away with not doing it?' Horrors of Horrors! I actually thought that!! Pretty shocking I know. Don't worry. I got over it and I plan to decorate today.
